Headline: IDE Successfully Hosts Inaugural Aerospace and Defense Summit

Mooresville, North Carolina – On June 27, the Institute of Digital Engineering (IDE) successfully hosted its inaugural Aerospace and Defense Summit, bringing together business, government, and academic leaders to discuss strategies for growing the aerospace and defense sectors in North Carolina. Summit discussion topics included the future of aerospace and defense engineering and manufacturing, high-skills workforce development, and Department of Defense procurement requirements.

In attendance were business leaders from companies including Corvid Technologies, Joe Gibbs Manufacturing Services, and Aperion UAV, among others. Also in attendance were the Mayor of the town of Mooresville and representatives from the North Carolina Department of Commerce, as well as faculty from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Mooresville Mayor Chris Carney stated, “The summit provided clear direction on how governments can lead on aerospace and defense growth, and I’m here to make sure this gets done for our community.”

According to Conrad Mohr, CEO of Aperion UAV, “Thank you for hosting us, it was a fantastic opportunity to meet new folks and catch up with old friends as well as generate real forward movement.”

David Jerome, Executive Director of the IDE, added, “I was hugely impressed with the group, and it reinforces our belief at the IDE that working in collaboration with business, government, and academia is an outstanding strategy for business expansion and job growth in our community.”
