Hypersonic Technology Research in Aerospace and Defense Sector Growth.

Mooresville, North Carolina – July 3, 2025 – The NC Collaboratory, North Carolina State University (NCSU), and the IDE have formalized a strategic partnership to advance critical research in hypersonic technology. The research project's objectives are designed to generate compelling results and showcase the state's unique capabilities in this rapidly evolving field.

This research, led by Dr. Jack Edwards, Angel Family Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at NCSU, demonstrates North Carolina's ability to serve as a strong partner for important Department of Defense (DoD) and NASA related research. The total NC Collaboratory award allocation for this project is $500,000 for 2025.

This partnership represents a significant step forward in advancing hypersonic technology, reinforcing North Carolina's commitment to cutting-edge research and innovation in aerospace and defense.
